Lacquer Memory Box - Palace of Westminster

Featuring our navy memory box illustrated with the Palace of Westminster, home to the UK Parliament and one of London's most iconic landmarks. The site has been home to a royal palace since the 11th century, when the Palace of Westminster began life as a royal residence under Cnut the Great and was occupied by the English monarchy for nearly 500 years. The current Gothic Revival building dates from the Victorian era, after the original palace was almost destroyed by fire in 1834 and architect Charles Barry won the commission to design its replacement, bringing in Augustus Welby Pugin to realise the Gothic Revival style that still defines the skyline today.
